WAYNE STATE COLLEGE (Wayne NE)

Dr. Walter Benthack has been a practicing physician in Wayne since 1930. A leading medical practitioner, he constructed Wayne's first hospital, and he was a major supporter of the construction of the modern Providence Medical Center in Wayne. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges from 1939 to 1945. Always a strong supporter of Wayne State, his service and dedication were recognized in 1975 when the new Applied Science Building at the college was named in his honor. Dr. Benthack has been a leader in the city, community, and state.
